Canterbury Tour with Tim Ronalds Architects and Walters + Cohen

£15.00

Join Cindy Walters (Walters + Cohen), Tim Ronalds and Lucy Thomas (Tim Ronalds Architects) for a tour of two recently completed projects on the campus of King's International College in Canterbury. Walters + Cohen's building is a new residential and teaching block designed for students aged 11-16 who have entered the English school system from abroad. Its expression in exposed concrete and Corten steel cladding makes reference to the character of a neighbouring nineteenth century malthouse, which has been remodelled by Tim Ronalds Architects to accommodate a theatre and associated spaces for drama and dance. Both projects received 2021 RIBA South East Building, with the Malthouse Theatre being named RIBA South East Building of the Year.

At 5.30, an hour after the conclusion of the tour, there will also be the opportunity to attend Choral Evensong at Canterbury Cathedral, where Caruso St John Architects has recently installed a new organ loft. Please note this does not form part of the main tour and any admission costs are not included in the ticket price.

STARTS:
