Building Tour: Energy Hub Elephant and Castle by Morris+Company
Join David Storring, Director at Morris+Company, for a tour of the recently completed Energy Hub in Elephant and Castle. Developed with Lendlease in partnership with Southwark Council, the sculptural heat and energy plant uses natural gas and bio methane to deliver low carbon heat and hot water to 3000+ homes and businesses across Elephant Park, as well as integrating integrates community uses, a cafe and early years nursery.
Set against the backdrop of taller brick residential buildings emerging from the masterplan, the Energy Hub’s metal perforated cladding reveals the differing personality of the building between day and night. A concrete datum wraps the base of the building with red aggregate revealed around entrances, in reference to the surrounding Victorian red brick buildings.

David Storring
David joined Morris+Company in 2008 and has since led the design and delivery of a diverse set of projects, with specific focus on complex mixed-use developments. In his role as Director he shares the responsibility for ongoing strategic management of the practice and attends weekly design reviews across all live projects. In addition to this project focus, David leads the practices sustainable agenda, developing a robust strategy and roadmap to make sure that projects deliver the highest achievable sustainable targets. Beyond the practice, David co-runs the BSc Design and Technology course at the Bartlett School of Architectures, with a focus on emerging technologies and sustainability, whilst also being a visiting critic and lecturer at a number of leading schools of architecture including The Bartlett School of Architecture, Cambridge University and Kingston University.
