Building Tour: Drayton Green Church

Piercy & Company lead a Building Tour of their first civic building - a church for a growing community in West London

The new building features a dramatic, pleated roof that takes inspiration from the soaring ceilings and vaulted spaces of traditional church architecture, whilst also mimicking the pitched roofs of the local streetscape. This dynamic roof geometry is made possible through the hybrid structure of steel framing and cross laminated timber.

The scheme has been created for the International Presbyterian Church in Ealing (IPC) and has evolved through a combination of extensive consultation with the congregation. The new space wraps an original grade II listed chapel, increasing the capacity from 80 people to 250, whilst still creating a vibrant, warm and light-filled space.
