Antwerp Tour
This three-day trip incorporates visits to the best new projects in Antwerp, including buildings by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, noAarchitecten and Robbrecht en Daem. Featuring a presentation by representatives of the Antwerp Bouwmeester’s team, the tour will be particularly valuable for British architects interested in learning about work opportunities in Antwerp. Building visits will be led by representatives of the architectural offices involved, and by developers where possible.
The price of travel and accommodation is not included in the ticket price. We recommend that attendees book accommodation at the Theater Hotel.
ITINERARY
Tuesday 8 September
15:00–18:00
The tour begins with visits to two recent projects by noAarchitecten: the restoration and transformation of Het Steen, Antwerp’s oldest building, and the practice’s work at the Museum Plantin-Moretus. In the afternoon, the group will visit Antwerp City Hall, where representatives of the Antwerp Bouwmeester’s team will give a presentation on the city’s architectural culture, recent public projects and opportunities for architects working in Antwerp.

Dinner at Samenloop, a pop-up restaurant in the city centre, included in the ticket price.
Wednesday 9 September

The tour will meet in the Theater Hotel lobby before exploring recent projects in the north of the city, beginning with a visit to Campus Cadix by Korteknie Stuhlmacher and housing developments by practices including Bovenbouw, Sergison Bates and Bulk.

Lunch at Wolf Sharing Food Market, included in the ticket price.
14:00–18:00
In the afternoon, the tour will visit Campus Hallen, AP Hogeschool’s new campus by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, followed by the Slachthuissite, a major urban renewal project involving OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, De Smet Vermeulen and Robbrecht en Daem. The day will also include a visit to the office of Bovenbouw Architectuur.

Thursday 10 September

The tour will leave from the Theater Hotel lobby and will include visits to Rubenshuis by Robbrecht en Daem, the Provinciehuis and the VAi archive. The group will then travel by train to Mortsel, where we will visit Mortsel City Hall, recently refurbished by Eagles of Architecture.
13:00
Lunch will be taken at Brandstof, included in the ticket price, before the group departs for Brussels by 15:00.

If the trip has to be rescheduled for reasons beyond the Architecture Foundation’s control, you will be offered a place on the rescheduled date. The Architecture Foundation will refund you should you be unable to attend on the rescheduled date.
