Building Tour: Sevenoaks School with Tim Ronalds Architects
Join us for an architect-led tour of the new Science and Technology Centre and Global Study Centre at Sevenoaks School
The Science and Technology Centre and Global Study Centre is the most recent in a series of buildings by Tim Ronalds Architects at Sevenoaks School. The £23M new building is part of a masterplan devised in 2005 by Tim Ronalds Architects to guide the school's development on the extensive site. The Science and Technology Centre contains 30 science laboratories and workshops arranged around a toplit atrium, and is day-lit and naturally ventilated throughout. The Global Study Centre provides sophisticated social, study and educational space for the school’s 400 sixth formers, plus an extensive multi‐purpose space for exams and events of all kinds.
The new buildings represent the practice's deep interest in construction and materiality that has come to represent their whole body of work at Sevenoaks School. This quality can be seen in the much celebrated Performing Arts Centre, built in 2010 as the first major new building of the masterplan, and the new Boarding House presently under construction.
There will also be a chance to visit Tim Ronalds Architects’ award winning Performing Arts Centre (2010) which provides the School with a concert hall, theatre, recital room, drama studio and music school with 20 varied teaching and practice rooms.
**PLEASE NOTE: This Building Tour is not in London and train tickets should be purchased separately**
We will meet at London Bridge station at 12.30 to catch the 12.54 train as a group, which gets to Sevenoaks at 13.31. From the station the school is a 20 minute walk away but taxis can also be easily caught from the station to the school.
