Join us on Saturday 12th October for a tour around Cooke Fawcett's recently completed Cockpit Studios Deptford.
The project transforms the existing Cockpit building, providing 21 new affordable studio spaces, a new woodworking hub, leather working hub, two education and community spaces, a pop up café and public garden. Using circular economy principles, the existing building fabric was conserved, on-site buildings materials repurposed and demolition works recycled.
A new entrance to the building is created in the front wall, giving Cockpit a new public face and offers a direct line of sight through the foyer and out to the rear yard and new workshop building. The new ‘Cockpit Craft Garden’ designed by Sebastian Cox and Immy McAndrew creates a newly accessible garden in a previously neglected and inaccessible yard. The front wall of the building is reimagined as a new public art work ‘Head, Heart, Hands’ by Cockpit maker Amber Khokhar.
The tour will be lead by Cooke Fawcett.
